On Sunday, October 18th, there will be a coast sweep happening at Keyes Beach from 8am -12pm. It is run by the Environmental club. Volunteers will help clean up Keyes Beach by collecting trash and debris such as cigarettes, cans, food wrappers , containers, and other trash cluttering the beach.
Whether it is trash or abandoned fishing gear, marine debris is more than an eyesore. It can directly harm sea life and humans. Sea birds, seals, and other animals can be choked, starved, or even poisoned when they become entangled or mistake the debris for food. Furthermore, beachgoers can be injured by glass and metal while walking in the sand or swimming in the water. Come out to Keyes Beach, in Barnstable MA on the 18th of October to help support this cause while also earning CAS!
