Be it on the side of good or evil, everyone who participated teamed up to defeat the stress of school work by bringing energy and enthusiasm to the halls of Sturgis. There were sightings of Batman, Superman and Spiderman, while well-known villains such as The Joker wandered the halls as well. The worlds of Marvel and DC Comics, home to the numerous characters known and loved by many, dually populated the school.
For those whom dressing up as a caped superhuman hailing from Krypton or a horned Norse god is not their cup of tea, (though the kind Alfred makes is quite delicious, I don’t know how anyone could turn that tea down), there was still the option of simply twinning. This did not have to be elaborate, making it an easily-accessible, but still fun, way of participating in Spirit Week. The senior class made it especially easy for anyone who needed a way to join in without rummaging through their closet to find something remotely similar to their friend’s variegated shirt and red skinny jeans. The night before, they suggested via Facebook post that anyone who needed an idea could just wear a black shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Therefore, they would be automatically twinning with at least some people!
Regardless of whether students chose to spend the day as a comic book character or someone’s clone, everyone enjoyed this day of Spirit Week. With the addition of Superhero/Villain Twin Day participation, seniors held on to their place in first (700 points), with juniors in second (600), sophomores in third (500), and freshmen in fourth (200). However, the week did not stop there, and students looked forward to the following three days of Spirit Week at Sturgis East!
