The Sturgis East field hockey team is well into its 2015 season and has been playing a great game. Though they may not be winning, they certainly have come together this season as a team, and have shown great progress.
Team Captains Toni Powicki and Ashley Fligg both have commented on the progress the girls are showing and the direction that they would like to see the season go.
“I think right now the girls are really attempting to acclimate to the new positions that were created at the beginning of the season,” Ashley said, “but we’re definitely working as hard as we can to improve.”
Toni commented on the team’s first few games, saying “At our first game we struggled to work together as a team; however, as the season progressed I think we really stepped it up, and began working far more cohesively.”
In last week’s game against Nantucket, the team played a great game, only letting three balls in goal. Senior Miriam May scored her first goal this season with mere seconds left on the clock.
Both Team Captains stated that their main goal for the rest of the season is to continue with the progress that they’re seeing, and to continue playing the team’s best.
