In order to address these concerns, answer questions, and familiarize families with Sturgis, tours were held after school on Wednesday, January 25. While faculty members were available to answer technical questions, current students from all grade levels volunteered to administer the tours. Guides included juniors Julia Lemmon, Victoria Williams, Ben Davis, Anna Bishop, Thomas Harris, and Matt Donahue, as well as sophomores Elaine Fryer and Sam Young. “At least 100 visitors attended,” estimated Mr. Barrasso as he looked back on the excellent turnout. “The key to the event was the student tour guides. We had a great meeting before the tours and the parents commented on how friendly and knowledgable the student guides were." Incoming families were shown the main building, the annex, and the art room, all the while being informed about the school’s culture, the learning environment, and the excellent academics.
"I think the tours went very well,” stated Mr. Barrasso. “The parents who attended said they thought the student tour guides did an excellent job." Many prospective students and their parents could be seen exiting the building with smiles on their faces, convinced that Sturgis would be the perfect place to spend a high school career. All of the guides would like to thank Mr. Barrasso for organizing the event, giving them the opportunity to participate, and for providing pizza beforehand!
