By Mark Agostinelli, Sports Editor The penultimate day of Spirit Week 2014 proved that Sturgis East students are as spirited as ever. Halloween Day, another returning favorite, was once again met with resounding success.
Throughout the hallways, there were spooky witches, cats, unicorns, and bunnies. Moreover, students dressed up as Demi Lovato, Darth Vader, Ferris Bueller, and even Santa Claus! One of my personal favorites was the costume of junior Jake LaMotte, who taped dozens of Smarties to his pants and called himself the “Smarty Pants”. The results have changed slightly leading up to the final day of Spirit Week. The senior class now holds a 50 point lead, but the points will be changing dramatically during the course of Class Colors Day. Here are the point totals as of Thursday: 1st Place: Seniors (1250 points) 2nd Place: Juniors (1200 points) 3rd Place: Sophomores (900 points) 4th Place: Freshmen (650 points) To cover the final day of Spirit Week, keep an eye out for the Class Colors Day report. May the most spirited grade win! By Livia Murray, Junior Class Reporter On Saturday October 24, the Homecoming Dance was held at the Holiday Inn in Hyannis. Tickets for this dance sold out quicker than they have ever sold before! It was a very popular event. Both East and West students from all grades attended and enjoyed the music and atmosphere provided by STUCO. As soon as the dance started, students were already gathering on the dance floor for a great night.
One aspect that many students continually love about STUCO dances is the photography done by Mr. Jarvis Chen. Mr. Chen set up a space for pictures along with fun props in order to add diversity and creative twists to the photos. Photos allow students to remember this wonderful event for years to come. By Katie Curran, Editor-In-Chief The Sturgis East Class of 2016 dressed up for the 1980's during Decades Day. The seniors were very spirited in their outfits. Spirit Week is always a wonderful 5 days at Sturgis where classes unite and grow closer through the celebration of our school. Below you can find some senior highlights of the day:

Are you interested in attending brief workshops taught by MIT students in Cambridge, Massachusetts? For just $40, you can take many classes on a huge variety of topics on November 21 and 22, 2015, the weekend before Thanksgiving. Who wouldn’t enjoy subjects such as origami, languages, and lasers? There’s something for everyone! Over the course of 21 hours, thousands of high school students will flood the campus to participate in over 400 offered courses in a program called "Splash." During this time, you can get your feet wet with introductions courses to subjects that you may have always wanted to study. You may discover great topics you never even knew existed! You can also elect to dive head first into an in-depth seminar or intensive workshop. "Splash" also offers exciting walk-in activities. These hands-on events allow you to show up at any time and leave whenever you are finished. Walk-ins such as card games and group activities are great for filling in gaps throughout your schedule. The additional benefit is that they don’t require you to sign up in advance. Registration is now open, and courses fill quickly. To sign up for an account, go tohttps://esp.mit.edu/learn/splash by October 31 and begin your journey! |
