On September 20, students and faculty came together for One Day, One Goal. The annual event celebrates the United Nations’ Peace Day. To promote world peace and unity, soccer matches take place all across the globe. East students joined in on the fun by competing on the town green. Check out our video about the festivities below!
Sturgis East Clubs on Full Display at the Clubs and Activities Fair
On September 25, Sturgis East students took part in the school’s annual Club and Activities Fair, which for many students helps with their Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), one of the three core requirements of the IB Diploma Programme. CAS encourages students to take part in community service and explore their interests outside the classroom. Student representatives from a myriad of clubs lined up along Main Street to recruit new members.
The Clubs and Activities Fair is a great way that Sturgis East fosters a sense of community for students between grade levels. For more information on CAS, please use this link.

Fridays for Future
On the 20th alone, this event was truly worldwide with the largest events in New York with over 260,000 people; Berlin with 230,000; Melbourne with 120,000; and Hamburg with 100,000. And these were just major cities on the first day alone. Throughout the rest of the week, people in over 185 countries, including students in our own school, protested climate change.
There's a reason this subject resonates with people so much. Climate change is a real issue with real effects. Many people may be thinking the following: we are just kids, and we cannot do anything to change this. But the fact that we are kids is what makes this subject so relevant and important to our generation. We are the ones charged with fixing this world because we are the ones who are going to be living in it. This is our earth, and it is the only one we will ever get. It’s our job to save it.
