Attention Sturgis! The school-wide Poetry Out Loud competition is happening on Tuesday, February 2nd from 3:30-5 pm, in the Sturgis East Library. Come to the competition to cheer on the Sturgis East performers.
Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation competition where almost 400,000 students across all 50 states participate each year.
At Sturgis, all freshmen and sophomores compete; first against their classmates in their English classes, then against the other winners of classroom competitions. Our school winner will represent Sturgis at the regional competition in March. Last year's school winner, Thea Goldman, made it all the way to the state level competition.
Good luck to this year's performers!
